Here's somethings that I've noticed about shopping at Kmart. Feel free to add more or comment.
*When you spend $25 or more in health and beauty and/or grocery items before coupons, you can get up to 5 coupons up to $1 each doubled.
*Each week, there's a coupon in both their monthly ad (available in-store or online only) and on their website (<http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/WeeklyAdHome?storeId=10151&catalogId=10104>--see red coupons tab near top on right), for 1 item free with a $25 purchase of anything before coupons (including the free item itself). This week my mom and I both got a free gallon bottle of Hawaiian Punch. It was on sale for $2.89, which is what it rang up for. However, the coupon took off the regular price, $3.19, instead, so we saved an extra $0.30 each. I don't know if that always works that way, but it was a nice surprise! If you don't need the item and it's nonperishable, you could always donate it too.
*I don't know if it's true with all/other stores or not, but you can use coupons for the items you get free with buy 1 get 1 free or buy 2 get 1 free, etc. sales. For example, this week individual packs of Wrigley gum is on sale for buy 2 get 1 free. I got 6 packs and was able to use 3 coupons for $0.50/2 (which doubled because I spent more than $25), which meant that I got $1 off the 2 free packs. They are $1.29 and $1.19 each, so I paid $1.96 total, or $0.33 each. Another sale this week was Hershey, Nestle, and Mars single candy bars also on sale for buy 2 get 1 free. I bought 6 Milky Way bars and used 2 coupons for $0.75/2 (which doubled for me). They're $0.99 each, so I paid $0.96 total, or $0.16 each. If I'd had another coupon, I could have used it as long as it didn't double.
*Also, you can use buy 1 get 1 free, etc. coupons with the buy 1 get 1 free, etc. sales. I again used the sale this week for Hershey, Nestle, and Mars single candy bars on sale for buy 2 get 1 free. I had 2 coupons for buy a Hershey's bar and get a Hershey's Air Delight bar free. So I bought 2 Air Delight bars and 4 Hershey bars and got the 2 Air Delight bars plus 2 of the Hershey bars for free. Since they're $0.99 each, I paid $1.98 total, or $0.33 each.
